Amazon puts $1.9 billion into DSP program to lift driver pay to almost $24/hour
Amazon said it will invest an additional $1.9 billion in its Delivery Service Partner program in 2027. The investment is expected to help DSP owners raise driver pay to a national average of nearly $24 per hour. At the same time, Amazon reported that serious vehicle crashes across its DSP network fell more than 23% last year.
Amazon will also allocate $70 million over the next five years to community impact initiatives led by DSP owners. By the end of this year, surround‑view camera technology will be installed in half of the Rivian electric delivery vehicles used by DSPs. The company is rolling out AI‑powered tools such as Wellspring and Smart Delivery Glasses to improve route accuracy and delivery speed. Navigation in the Amazon Delivery App will now automatically adjust routes during bad weather or when hazards are detected, without driver intervention.
Since 2022, Amazon has invested more than $543 million in safety initiatives and technology for DSP owners. Over the past three years, those investments have helped DSP owners increase driver pay by an average of 16% nationwide. The DSP program’s annual Ignite Live conference in Las Vegas brings together thousands of owners to share updates and celebrate achievements.
