Colruyt Professionals opens tenth Belgian site at Antwerp’s Blue Gate park
Colruyt Professionals will open its tenth Belgian location on November 12 at the Blue Gate business park south of Antwerp. The outlet marks the firm’s fourth Flanders site and comes shortly after a Deurne store, giving Colruyt Professionals coverage of both Antwerp’s northern and southern outskirts.
Transport firm Cornelissen will manage Albert Heijn’s home deliveries from the new depot, and the retailer says the extra depot will cut the total kilometres driven. For now Albert Heijn’s fleet at the site runs on diesel, but it intends to move to electric delivery vans later, as reported by Gazet Van Antwerpen. Coolblue’s distribution centre in the same building relies on a fleet of electric vans and cargo bikes for its last‑mile shipments. AB InBev will use the Antwerp site as a hub to distribute beverages to restaurants, bars and retail outlets. The Blue Gate park, located in Petroleum Zuid south of Antwerp, already hosts logistics facilities for DHL and Amazon that were built on the former petroleum refinery grounds. Colruyt Professionals’ new outlet is its tenth in Belgium and fourth in Flanders, adding to a store opened earlier on the former Makro site in Deurne.
Before the latest arrivals, DHL and Amazon had already established distribution centres at Blue Gate, a site that once housed petroleum companies. The recent wave sees Albert Heijn, AB InBev and Coolblue joining those incumbent logistics operators at the park.
