Ikea launches second-hand marketplace in UK and Ireland for Family members

Ikea has launched a second-hand marketplace in the UK and Ireland for Ikea Family members to buy and sell pre-owned Ikea products. Items listed on the marketplace cost on average 60% less than comparable new products.

Listing is free for Ikea Family members, who can receive payment either in cash or via an Ikea digital refund card that includes a 15% bonus. Sellers can scan eligible items to create listings that automatically add recommended prices, product images, measurements, descriptions, assembly instructions and care information. Mattresses, appliances, food, modified products, recalled products and any non-Ikea items are excluded from the marketplace.

“The way people furnish their homes has changed. Whether they are moving, redecorating or looking for a particular piece, more customers are considering pre-owned furniture alongside new and are actively searching for items that can help create a home that feels personal to them,” Greg Lucas said.

The marketplace already operates in eight European markets, including Spain, Norway, Portugal, Poland, Sweden and Belgium, with Germany set to join on 14 October. Ingka Group said the marketplace recorded 15 million visits and 95,700 listings across its first six markets up to 31 August 2026, with 25.5% of users being new or reactivated Ikea Family members.
