Office Depot Group rebrands from ODP Group, unifying 40‑year‑old brand across retail and B2B
On September 18, 2026, Office Depot Group announced it had rebranded from the ODP Group and retired the ODP Business Solutions name, unifying its 40‑year‑old Office Depot brand across retail stores and B2B distribution. The company also noted that Office Depot ranks No. 24 in the Top 2000 Database of North American online retailers and is the second‑largest retailer in the office supplies category behind Staples.
The new Office Depot Group name will appear on the company’s website, marketing materials and social media channels over the coming weeks. CEO Craig Gunckel said the change returns the company to a legacy brand with more than 40 years of history, which he believes will positively affect employees, customers and long‑time partners. Analysts warned that aligning the B2B unit under the Office Depot name could confuse procurement officers who associate the brand with brick‑and‑mortar retail, potentially limiting perceptions of the firm’s broader distribution capabilities.
“Office Depot is a brand with more than 40 years of history behind it — the kind of recognition that can’t be built overnight, only earned over decades by showing up for our customers, our partners and the communities we serve,” Craig Gunckel, CEO at Office Depot said.
“One big concern is that procurement officers have already built four decades of connotations to the Office Depot brand as a brick‑and‑mortar entity, which could dilute the identity of the company and its perceived areas of expertise,” Alys Reynders, chief marketing officer at Quickbase said.
Previously, the parent company operated under the ODP Group name while its distribution arm was branded ODP Business Solutions. The rebrand consolidates those units under a single Office Depot identity.
