OK Future creates Goodwipes AI spoof in four days, cutting projected $700k cost

OK Future produced Goodwipes’ 'Meet Asstra' social media spot, a spoof of OpenAI’s Astra commercial, using generative AI tools in just four days. In its first 48 hours on Reddit, the spot garnered more than 750,000 views, later climbing to nearly 1.5 million across subreddits and accumulating over 800 shares according to a company spokesperson.

Typically a minute‑long commercial takes about six weeks, but OK Future compressed the workflow into four days by using AI for character visualization, voice‑over and location generation. The four‑person team worked in shifts around the clock on little sleep, with one member threatening to quit at 2 a.m. before returning at 7 a.m. after tensions eased. Cartagena said AI struggled with editing text and the team questioned whether the spot would finish on time and be well‑received. Goodwipes has not calculated exact savings, but its SVP of marketing said the AI‑produced spot cost less than a traditional location scout, production team, director and post‑production edit.

“It was sort of like a pressure cooker because you take what is normally the emotions of a month and a half shoot, and compress them into four days,” Frank Cartagena, founder of OK Future said.

“It’s not just about speed. It’s about trust, and I have a lot of trust in Frank,” Meredith Diehn, SVP of marketing at Goodwipes said.

OK Future was launched earlier this year by Frank Cartagena after his tenure as CEO of MullenLowe U.S., aiming to test how generative AI could let a small agency punch above its weight. Goodwipes had begun experimenting with AI‑powered creative, relying on OK Future and its internal team for guidance while navigating legal approvals and internal stakeholder comfort.
