PYMNTS launches seventh annual B2B Payments event on agentic enterprise
PYMNTS launches its seventh annual B2B Payments event, running Oct. 5 through Oct. 14, to explore how enterprises are embedding AI into core operations. The event draws on PYMNTS Intelligence’s monthly tracking of 60 enterprise CFOs, which shows that 62% of firms now spend over $10 million on AI tools.
Three years ago, only about 30% of enterprises were fully using strategic, high‑impact generative AI, but nine months into the research 90% of CFOs reported positive returns, including in cybersecurity. PYMNTS found that while enterprises apply AI to an average of seven of eight business functions, just 20% of the 437 deployments examined are truly embedded in workflows. Among companies with three or more embedded AI functions, 93% say the technology has already paid off, compared with 25% of firms overall. Webster argues that trust and experience earned through repeated use are needed before AI can be granted authority to act autonomously within core systems.
“I think every enterprise is already agentic. And the question is how far along are they on that journey,” Karen Webster, CEO of PYMNTS said.
This year marks the seventh annual PYMNTS B2B Payments event, building on six previous editions that have examined various B2B payments trends. PYMNTS Intelligence has been tracking enterprise CFOs monthly for several years to gauge AI adoption and returns.
