Teamsters union signs up 55 drivers at DHL Express subcontractors in Dallas

The Teamsters union said 55 drivers at two DHL Express delivery subcontractors in the Dallas metro area have voted to join Local 745. The workers are employed by DeliverOL and Driven-Force Inc., which operate from a shared facility outside Dallas. The union says the vote was unanimous after its organizing drive last week, part of its effort to extend the benefits and protections won by a few thousand DHL Express members to subcontractor workers.

The union cites a spring four‑year contract with DHL Express that delivered a 20 % wage increase, better health and welfare benefits, and stronger job protections for package drivers. A DeliverOL driver said subcontractor workers are paid considerably less than DHL Teamsters even though they wear the same uniform and deliver the same packages. The Teamsters logistics director said the union is organizing at every point of DHL’s operation to raise standards for anyone moving its parcels. A check of National Labor Relations Board files found no formal complaints against DeliverOL or Driven-Force, and neither company offered comment on the drive.

“We wear DHL uniforms, deliver DHL packages, and drive DHL trucks, but we are paid considerably less than DHL Teamsters,” Malik Hathorn, driver at Cartage Services by DeliverOL and a new member of Local 745 said.

“We are organizing every corner of DHL’s operation and building the power necessary to raise standards for anyone who moves a DHL package,” Spencer Dearth, director of the Teamsters Logistics Division said.

Earlier this year, DHL Express and the Teamsters ratified a four‑year agreement covering the carrier’s own package drivers and warehouse workers. The union says it now wants to bring comparable wages, health benefits, and job safeguards to the workers who handle DHL parcels through subcontractors.
