Tesla plans European Semi demonstrations in early 2027 and deliveries by year‑end
Tesla will begin European demonstrations of its Semi truck in the first half of 2027 and aims to start customer deliveries by the end of that year, according to Dan Priestley, head of Semi at Tesla. The European-spec Semi offers a usable range of 550 kilometers (about 342 miles) when loaded to 40 metric tons, with a consumption rate of 1 kilowatt‑hour per kilometer. Tesla will launch its European Megacharger network next year with more than 100 stalls, each capable of 1.2 megawatts, while also offering a 120‑kilowatt Basecharger priced at 17,000 euros.
The truck retains the same hardware as the North American standard‑range Semi, with a curb weight of 9,100 kilograms and a gross combination weight rating of 40 metric tons for European homologation. It uses a three‑axle layout where the rear axle is geared for highway cruise and the mid‑axle provides power and torque, with the drivetrain shifting load between them automatically. European‑specific changes include lighting, a tachograph, a different trailer interface, splash guards, and the option to replace mirrors with camera‑monitor systems that feed interior displays.
“What we’re working on right now is lining up customers that are highly interested in experiencing the truck through demonstrations in the first half of next year, with the opportunity then to take delivery, targeting by the end of next year,” Dan Priestley, head of Semi at Tesla said.
“And yes, I get a lot of questions: ‘Is your truck too big?’ No, it’s not,” Dan Priestley, head of Semi at Tesla said.
Tesla’s Semi fleet has already logged more than 28 million kilometers (roughly 17.4 million miles) in operation. The company is currently lining up demonstration customers for the European Semi and has not announced a date for general sales in Europe.
