Zalando opens 140,000‑square‑metre new distribution centre in France
Zalando has officially opened its first mega‑distribution centre in France, a 140,000‑square‑metre facility in Montereau-sur-le-Jard just south of Paris, after five years of planning and construction. The centre fulfills the 300‑million‑euro investment pledge made by founder and CEO Robert Gentz at the 2021 Choose France summit.
The site will ramp up gradually to full capacity, eventually processing a significant portion of Zalando’s French online orders, reflecting the company’s gradual growth strategy.
Positioned on the outskirts of Paris, the complex is intended to speed up deliveries across western Europe, strengthen the company’s logistics network, and support its European expansion.
Zalando describes the facility as one of the most beautiful and modern locations in its entire European network, according to its Managing Director for Western Europe.
The opening marks the German e‑commerce giant’s first mega‑distribution centre in France, extending its footprint beyond Germany and neighbouring markets and underscoring its commitment to the French market.
“Back then, it was just a promise. Today, this investment is taking shape in a 140,000 m² facility—one of the most beautiful and modern locations in our entire European network,” Laura Toledano Khelif, Zalando’s Managing Director for Western Europe said.
Planning for the centre began five years before its opening, with the early work starting before the launch.
In 2021, Robert Gentz announced the 300‑million‑euro investment at the Choose France summit, framing it as a long‑term commitment to the French market.
The facility’s location in Montereau-sur-le-Jard was chosen for its proximity to the major transport corridors serving Paris and surrounding regions.
