FedEx Orders 2,000 Electric Trucks From Harbinger in $300M Deal
FedEx has ordered 2,000 medium-duty electric trucks from Harbinger Motors in a deal valued over $300 million. The trucks are set for delivery by the end of 2027 and are expected to save FedEx roughly $40 million per year in fuel costs.
The vehicles will be deployed in FedEx’s parcel operations across the United States and Canada. Harbinger estimates each truck will cut fuel expenses by about $20,000 annually compared with a diesel counterpart. Over their operating lives, the fleet is projected to avoid more than 1.7 million tons of CO2 emissions.
“Electrifying a fleet at this scale requires vehicles that can perform the work our robust operations demand while also delivering meaningful economic benefits,” Paul Melander said.
“Expanding our deployment of Harbinger vehicles gives us an opportunity to continue making progress toward our fleet electrification goals while reducing fuel and operating costs,” Paul Melander said.
Prior to this order, FedEx had participated in a $160 million Series C financing for Harbinger in November 2025 and had acquired 73 of the company’s electric trucks through an initial purchase of 53 vehicles followed by an additional 20.
