Google helps deploy 25 electric trucks in Texas via Nevoya partnership

Google announced on Sept. 8 that it will fund the deployment of 25 additional electric trucks in Texas through a partnership with Nevoya and the Center for Green Market Activation. With Google's contribution, the initiative will expand to 63 zero‑emission class 8 battery trucks and is slated to launch in early 2027.

Google will provide upfront capital to Nevoya to accelerate fleet deployment along the Dallas‑Houston freight corridor and to build dedicated charging infrastructure for the route. In return, Google will receive environmental attribute certificates that it can apply toward its own sustainability goals, while other shippers can buy similar credits to offset logistics emissions. The Center for Green Market Activation’s GMA Trucking alliance, launched in 2023, operates a book‑and‑claim system that separates environmental attributes from the trucks, letting participants earn credit for emissions reductions.

“The overall project, with 63 trucks in total, is the largest known deployment of class 8 battery (the largest truck classification) zero-emission trucks in Texas,” Jenna Stauffer, Google's head of strategic priorities for climate operations said.

“Book and claim helps unlock the capital and operational certainty to deploy electric capacity where it makes the most commercial sense,” Nevoya CEO Sami Khan said.

The Center for Green Market Activation formed the GMA Trucking buyers alliance in 2023 to pool shipper funding for zero‑emission trucks. Earlier that year it had already brought together Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Green Worldwide Shipping and Meta to support Nevoya’s deployments on the Houston‑Dallas lane.
