ICE arrests Uzbek drivers at NJ travel stops and NH inspection point

ICE Newark officers arrested two Uzbek citizens Aug. 23 during separate targeted enforcement actions at New Jersey travel stops and a New Hampshire commercial-vehicle inspection station. Zakhidov’s record included a May 15 conviction for driving while intoxicated in New York, according to ICE. In New Hampshire, ICE Boston reported arresting Satvir Singh Sept. 11 during targeted operations at a commercial-vehicle inspection station.

The Aug. 31 announcement outlined operations involving immigration officers, transportation inspectors and state police, and identified weigh stations among planned Enforcement and Removal Operations activities. It described Chicago’s field office coordinating an Aug. 25-27 operation with Indiana State Police focused on weigh stations, and outlined plans for an enforcement surge in Maine, Michigan and Wisconsin pairing immigration officers with FMCSA-certified inspectors. The announcement also named three enforcement efforts: Operation ICE Wall targets companies and drivers with final removal orders, Guardrail focuses on CDL holders ICE deems unlawfully present, and Freightliner coordinates federal agencies and 287(g) partners to identify unlawful commercial-vehicle operators. A July 16 DOT-HHS partnership aims to investigate suspected fraud at roughly 75 entry-level driver-training schools, with Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy citing the removal of over 24,000 drivers for English-language failures, 28,000 licenses cancelled for foreign applicants, and 9,500 schools struck from the FMCSA registry.
