NMFTA launches threat‑report portal with 100 early registrants

NMFTA opened its Threat Report Portal to all industry participants in May, reporting 100 registrants by early June. The portal shares anonymized tactics, techniques, and procedures as well as indicators of compromise after a vetting process that can take as little as an hour.

Any company can register for free access to the portal, which collects incident reports from carriers, shippers and third‑party logistics providers. Before publication, NMFTA staff strip identifying information and verify each submission to ensure it is legitimate and useful. The goal is to distribute attack playbooks across the sector so that a technique that fails on one carrier is quickly known to others, reducing the chance of repeat breaches.

“We will anonymize them,” Ben Wilkens, director of cybersecurity at NMFTA said.

The idea for the portal emerged during the 2025 NMFTA cybersecurity conference, where participants stressed the need for industry‑wide sharing of threat data. After a small beta test with a core group of carriers in the first quarter, NMFTA refined the system and launched a soft start in May. The full portal was released to the public in May.
