Shipium launches Always On Audit for real-time freight invoice monitoring
Shipium has launched Always On Audit, an AI-driven system that provides continuous, real-time monitoring of every shipment. It replaces the traditional month-old invoice reconciliation process with ongoing checks that flag discrepancies as shipments move.
The system creates a digital twin of each shipment at the moment it is rated and routed, capturing expected cost, dimensions and carrier contract terms. As the shipment progresses, data from rating, carrier selection, label printing and delivery are written to that twin in real time. When the AI detects a mismatch, it surfaces the exception for human review, and the outcome is fed back to improve the model.
“Monthly audit and continuous audit are not the same job at different speeds,” Penny Allen, SVP of AI Product and Engineering, Shipium said.
“We think of ourselves as the rails for shipping,” Jason Murray, CEO and co-founder, Shipium said.
Freight audit has long been one of the least glamorous corners of supply chain operations. It traditionally involves boxes of paper or a team hunched over spreadsheets reconciling invoices weeks after the shipments in question have already been delivered.
