Target names ex-Hilton CMO Mark Weinstein as chief marketing and guest experience officer
Target on Monday named Mark Weinstein as its chief marketing and guest experience officer, effective immediately. In the role, Weinstein will oversee Target’s retail media network Roundel and its Target+ marketplace while also leading the company’s marketing, loyalty and guest experience strategies.
He will report to Target’s chief executive officer, Michael Fiddelke. Prior to joining Target, Weinstein accumulated over 16 years at Hilton, most recently serving as its global chief marketing officer starting in 2020. Target posted a 3.8% gain in comparable sales and a 3.6% increase in traffic during the second quarter. The chief marketing officer role has been empty since Lisa Roath transitioned from that post to lead the food, essentials and beauty division early last year. In his new role, Weinstein will focus on shaping how consumers experience and engage with Target across its channels, culture and community. During his time at Hilton, he managed the Hilton Honors loyalty program and oversaw the retailer’s 28 brands, including its luxury lines.
“Mark has a proven ability to understand what consumers value and turn those insights into brand connections that feel relevant and personal,” Michael Fiddelke, Target CEO said.
Before the appointment, Target had recorded a 3.8% rise in comparable sales and a 3.6% increase in traffic for the second quarter. The retailer had been without a chief marketing officer since Lisa Roath was moved from that role to oversee food, essentials and beauty early last year.
