Aldi reports record £19bn sales for 2025
Aldi posted sales of £19bn for the 12 months to 31 December 2025, marking a 5% increase on the previous year and setting a new high for the discounter. Operating profit edged down to £432.9m, a decline of about 0.6% from £435.5m in 2024, while the operating margin slipped to 2.3% from 2.4%. The retailer pledged a £900m investment for 2027 to open 40 new stores and continue upgrades to its distribution network, aiming to bolster capacity ahead of further growth.
Aldi has allocated £340m to cut prices on over 1,000 products across its range, part of its effort to remain the UK’s cheapest supermarket. It intends to source at least half of its goods from long‑term supplier agreements by 2027 and reported spending £14bn with British suppliers in 2025 to support locally grown food. The chain currently operates 1,500 stores in the UK and plans to open 30 additional locations in the next ten weeks, including sites in Dumbarton, Newport and Willesden, London. Earlier in January Aldi announced plans to spend more than £370m this year on expanding its UK supermarket network, a move that precedes the larger 2027 commitment.
“We’re working hard to make good food more affordable for every family – cutting prices on everyday essentials, signing long-term supplier agreements to help increase home-grown production, and continuing to bring affordable groceries to even more communities through our store opening programme,” Giles Hurley, CEO for Aldi UK and Ireland said.
