American Eagle Outfitters cuts delivery time 16% with Amazon Shipping
American Eagle Outfitters reduced its average delivery time by 16% after integrating Amazon Shipping into its network following a spring 2025 pilot. The retailer cited seven‑day‑per‑week service and stable pricing as the biggest improvements, noting reliable performance during the 2025 holiday peak.
Amazon Shipping started with a soft launch three years ago and has been moving parcels in Europe for five years. Under the model, Amazon trucks collect packages from shippers, bring them to Amazon sort centers, route them by ZIP code, and hand them to local delivery vans that run alongside Amazon’s own shipments. American Eagle runs 1,170 stores in North America, four distribution centers and fulfills online orders from roughly 700 of those stores. The company uses Amazon Shipping as part of a multi‑carrier approach, selecting it based on cost, speed, and quality for each package.
“Normally, every day as we approach peak we’re stressing about what carriers we’re turning off because we’re watching their performance [degrade]. So, we were actually amazingly happy, and we actually delivered our best peak ever for our consumers,” Brandon Friez, senior vice president global logistics and supply chain intelligence said.
“We wanted a multi-carrier strategy. We didn’t want any carrier that we relied on more, to derisk. Basically, Amazon was just another carrier in our ecosystem. So, you know, we look at all of our carriers and evaluate on cost, speed, quality. And when Amazon was the best choice, [based on a package’s attributes], we went with it,” Jen Baikr, vice president of transportation and customer promise said.
Amazon began testing its Shipping service with a soft launch three years ago and has operated the service in Europe for five years. Earlier this year it grouped its freight, fulfillment and parcel services under the Amazon Supply Chain Services brand. Previously, Amazon had only made its logistics capabilities available to outside shippers on a limited basis.
What we know
Amazon Shipping began a soft launch three years ago and has been operating in Europe for five years.
After pilot testing the service in the spring of 2025 it quickly incorporated the carrier into its transportation network in time for the peak holiday season.
American Eagle operates 1,170 stores across North America, four distribution centers and fulfills e-commerce orders from about 700 stores.
Amazon essentially eliminated one-to-two days in delivery delays, helping to reduce overall delivery time by 16%, the supply chain executives said.
The biggest pain points Amazon Shipping solved for American Eagle were seven-day per week delivery and price predictability, said Brandon Friez, senior vice president global logistics and supply chain intelligence, during a session at Parcel Forum 26 here.
