Aritzia now has more U.S. boutiques than Canadian stores
At the end of the first quarter of fiscal 2027, Aritzia operated 76 boutiques in the United States and 67 in Canada. U.S. sales rose 54.5% year over year to $638.1 million, making up 67.1% of total revenue, while Canadian revenue increased 25% to $313 million.
The company plans to open 12 to 13 new boutiques in fiscal 2027, with 11 to 12 of them destined for the United States. In the United States, Aritzia has identified 180 to 200 locations that meet its site criteria, compared with the 76 boutiques it operated at the end of fiscal 2026. A standard Aritzia boutique is about 10,000 square feet, generates roughly $1,000 in sales per square foot, yields about $10 million in annual revenue and requires approximately $4 million of net investment, with management targeting payback within 12 to 18 months. At Oakridge Park in Vancouver, the company returned to the shopping centre where its first standalone boutique opened in 1984, growing from about 1,500 square feet to roughly 10,000 square feet. Aritzia is developing a four-level flagship at CF Pacific Centre in downtown Vancouver, taking part of the former Nordstrom space, which will be approximately 41,800 to 42,000 square feet, more than four times the size of a standard boutique. Part of the U.S. pipeline includes entering new cities such as Birmingham, New Orleans and St. Louis for fiscal 2027.
In the U.S., management has identified 180 to 200 locations that meet its site criteria, compared with 76 boutiques at the end of fiscal 2026. Aritzia is spending on Canadian real estate, though increasingly on larger or repositioned stores instead of adding large numbers of locations.
