Fine’ry launches ACOTAR-inspired fragrance line at Target on Oct 11
Fine’ry will release a limited-edition ACOTAR-branded fragrance collection on October 11, initially at Target before expanding to over 7,000 stores across seven retailers. Each bottle will sell for $29.99 and features new names and packaging for four of Fine’ry’s existing perfumes, inspired by the series.
The collection includes reimagined versions of Fine’ry’s jasmine-forward No Prince Required, now called Night in Velaris, and three other existing scents matched to descriptors used by author Sarah J. Maas in the books. Fine’ry partnered with IMG Licensing, which holds the ACOTAR franchise rights, to ensure the packaging and scent experience felt authentic to the world of the novels. After the Target launch, the fragrances will be available at retailers such as Amazon, Books–A–Million and additional mass‑market outlets, reaching more than 7,000 doors total.
“There’s a level of escapism that naturally comes with reading fantasy, where you can imagine yourself in another world. And I think the same is true for fragrance, in a way,” Vanessa Santana, brand marketing director at Fine’ry said.
“Scent plays an integral role in the world Sarah has created in ACOTAR, bringing its characters and settings to life in a deeply immersive way. From the outset, it was important that this fragrance partnership felt thoughtful and authentic to the books,” Samantha Chang, vp at IMG Licensing said.
Sarah J. Maas published the first ACOTAR novel, “A Court of Thorns and Roses,” with Bloomsbury in 2015. The series has since been translated into 40 languages and sold more than 75 million copies worldwide, helping to launch the romantasy genre. Fans refer to the interconnected worlds of Maas’ books as the “Maasverse.”
