Kingfisher raises profit target to £595‑£635m after AI-driven sales boost

In September, Kingfisher raised its pre‑tax profit target to between £595 million and £635 million, up from a previous range of £565 million to £625 million. The increase follows AI‑driven personalisation that generated roughly £100 million in sales, a 16% uplift attributed to the technology.

Group e‑commerce sales reached 22% penetration, while app sales accounted for 29% of e‑commerce and app users spent about 14% more than non‑app users. Marketplace gross merchandise value rose 42% to £372 million, representing 18% of the retailer’s e‑commerce sales. Screwfix’s 20‑minute delivery service, Sprint, saw volumes increase 50%, reflecting stronger demand for rapid fulfilment in city stores. The company is investing in platform enhancements such as Buybox to balance price, merchant performance and delivery speed, and plans to introduce natural language search at B&Q in the second half of the year. Looking ahead, Kingfisher says the next phase of digital commerce will include agent‑enabled shopping experiences. The retailer disclosed its AI and other tech initiatives while noting a heatwave‑driven drop in sales at B&Q.

Previously, Kingfisher had guided for a pre‑tax profit between £565 million and £625 million and reported £560 million profit the prior year. The update also notes that group e‑commerce penetration had reached 22% and app sales were already 29% of online sales.
