Morrisons posts 3.2% like-for-like sales growth as cost savings near £1bn

Morrisons reported like-for-like sales rose 3.2% in the 13 weeks to 26 July, pushing total sales to £4.1bn. The rise marked its 15th consecutive quarter of like-for-like growth and came alongside £53m of new cost savings, taking cumulative savings to £995m.

Online sales grew by a double‑digit percentage, helped by the expansion of Immediacy and Morrisons Now services. Convenience added 71 new Morrisons Daily franchise stores so far this year. The retailer launched its Unbeatables price promise, guaranteeing customers will not find better value on hundreds of essential products at named major supermarkets. Morrisons raised its working‑capital improvement target to £750m and said debt had fallen 46% since 2022 with no near‑term maturities.

“Trading conditions in Q3 remained highly competitive but the period also benefited from the hot weather and the World Cup,” Rami Baitiéh, chief executive said.

Morrisons had recorded 14 consecutive quarters of like-for-like growth before the third quarter. Its previous strongest quarter was Q2 2025.
