Nuuly tops 500,000 subscribers as inventory expands to 33,000 items
Nuuly, the rental service of Urban Outfitters Inc., reported over 500,000 active subscribers and grew its inventory to more than 33,000 items. The platform now carries clothing from more than 500 external brand partners, including Nike, Barbour and J. Crew.
Nuuly offers algorithm-driven sizing and a pause‑and‑cancel feature to simplify the subscriber experience. Behind the front end, the company manages reverse logistics, continuously receiving, cleaning, repairing and re‑shipping each garment. David Hayne, president of Nuuly and chief technology officer of URBN, said the service aims to give women an affordable way to refresh their wardrobes.
“There’s a tension there between the desire for newness and the desire for variety, and then what it costs,” David Hayne, president of Nuuly and chief technology officer of URBN said.
“At the end of the day, Nuuly is a platform that helps drive brand awareness,” David Hayne, president of Nuuly and chief technology officer of URBN said.
Urban Outfitters Inc. introduced Nuuly as a subscription rental option as consumers questioned the financial and environmental impact of constantly buying new clothing.
