Shopify’s EMEA managing director Deann Evans departs after five years
Deann Evans announced her departure as Shopify’s managing director for EMEA after five years in the role. She said she had spent the past four weeks away from work weighing her next move, without naming a future employer. She noted that Shopify now serves everyone from first‑time founders to some of the world’s largest enterprises in Europe.
Before Shopify, Evans worked at GoToDigital, Mettrr and Sizmek. Under her leadership, the company’s partner ecosystem expanded and new products were brought to merchants across the region. According to Retail Technology Innovation Hub, the Shopify catalogue contains more than one billion products structured for discovery, and Evans said AI is reshaping how merchants sell. She thanked her team, partners and merchants, saying their talent will continue to drive Shopify’s success in Europe.
“Over the past four weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to step back, spend valuable time with my family, and reflect on what comes next,” Deann Evans, former Managing Director, EMEA, Shopify said.

Evans joined Shopify five years ago after roles at GoToDigital, Mettrr and Sizmek. During her tenure, she helped shift the company’s perception in Europe from a platform for small businesses to one serving large enterprises and pointed to growth in the partner ecosystem and new merchant products.
