Toast adds fuel payment processing to its platform for convenience retailers
Toast announced on September 29 that its platform now enables retailers to process fuel payments, including fleet cards, alongside foodservice and general retail sales. Convenience retailers account for roughly 80 % of all fuel sold in the United States, according to NACS data.
Toast Fuel provides a dedicated forecourt interface for cashiers to handle in‑store gas payments and allows fuel transactions at the pump. An offline mode keeps the system processing payments during internet outages. The offering includes a dedicated onboarding consultant, live training sessions, a training library and around‑the‑clock help. Toast is partnering with OWL Services, a petroleum products and EV charging distributor, to manage installation logistics.
“We're bringing the same innovation powering the country's best restaurants and retailers to c-store operators, giving them the modern tools they’ve long deserved so they can focus on delivering great customer experiences rather than managing their tech,” Omri Traub, chief operating officer of retail at Toast said.
Toast already offers Toast IQ, an AI assistant that answers operators’ questions about inventory and margins. It also provides Toast IQ Grow, a marketing solution that includes email and SMS tools.
