Unilever Wellbeing reports seven wellness brands after Olly acquisition

Unilever Wellbeing now owns seven wellness-oriented brands, following its 2019 acquisition of Olly. Four of those brands are designated power brands, namely Olly, Liquid I.V., Nutrafol and Grü.

Solheim said that ten years ago beauty was defined mainly by appearance, but consumers have moved from dieting for looks to dieting for health and now to a combined wellness‑beauty approach. He outlined three shifts: first, health goals aimed at weight management and disease prevention; second, the convergence of beauty and well‑being; third, the digitalization that puts science and data in the hands of consumers. Solheim added that GLP‑1 drugs and AI‑assisted health data are giant accelerators, encouraging a more proactive stance on personal health. Solheim noted that consumers have increasingly taken agency over their own health and integrated wellness into everyday life, which gave an opportunity for branding and building deeper relationships.

“Four [are] what we at Unilever call power brands,” Jostein Solheim, CEO of Unilever Wellbeing said.

“[It was] the original disruptor of the vitamin shelf,” Jostein Solheim, CEO of Unilever Wellbeing said.

Historically, Unilever was known primarily as one of the world's largest food companies, but it has since reshaped its portfolio to blend food, beverage and better-for-you wellness brands. In 2019 it bought Olly to expand its vitamin and supplement line, marking the start of its wellness‑focused brand building. The move came as the company observed shifting consumer priorities toward health‑linked beauty products.
