Adrian Cheng launches 95,000‑sqm K11 Select in Xiamen with 200 brands
Adrian Cheng announced the launch of K11 Select in Xiamen, a 95,000‑square‑metre retail destination hosting around 200 brands. The project is positioned as a cultural tourism district that links shopping, art, urban development and wetland conservation.
Developed jointly with Xiamen Rail Transit Group, the site sits inside the Wuyuan Bay Wetland Park transit‑oriented hub. Cheng, who founded the original K11 concept in 2008, said the model aims to connect commerce, culture, city growth and natural coexistence. The opening follows Cheng’s exit from New World Development, where he stepped down as CEO in September 2024 and left the board in July 2024. Cheng’s Almad Group, created last year to manage culture, healthcare, entertainment and related ventures, oversees K11 by AC, while NWD retains its existing Hong‑Kong‑listed K11 assets.
“For me, this represents the next evolution of cultural commerce: not simply creating places to shop, but destinations that can contribute to how a city develops, how people experience culture, and how we coexist with the natural environment,” Adrian Cheng, founder of K11 said.
Prior to this, Cheng resigned from New World Development’s board and CEO role, established Almad Group to consolidate his cultural and commercial interests, and NWD continues to pursue a Shanghai C‑REIT for its own K11 properties while exploring a possible Bain Capital investment.
