Aldi teams with Deliveroo for online delivery in eight UK stores from October
Aldi will trial online grocery delivery with Deliveroo in eight UK stores starting in October A wider rollout across the UK is planned for early 2027
The service will operate under Deliveroo's new Shop & Deliver model, in which riders pick, pack and deliver orders directly from Aldi stores to customers' doors. Shoppers will be able to order a broad selection of Aldi products, including special buys, for same-day delivery via the Deliveroo app. The pilot covers stores in Norwich, Ipswich, Tamworth, Letchworth Garden City and four locations in Kent. For riders, participation in Shop & Deliver is optional and provides an additional earning opportunity outside peak mealtimes.
“We’ve always been committed to bringing low prices to as many people as possible, and this partnership with Deliveroo allows us to do exactly that without changing how our stores operate,” Giles Hurley, chief executive officer at Aldi UK said.
“We are excited to welcome Aldi to the Deliveroo platform through a brand new service, Shop & Deliver. Consumers in several locations across the country will soon be able to enjoy Aldi’s great value and selection delivered to their doorstep on demand,” Rob Harris, VP merchant and chief revenue officer at Deliveroo said.
Aldi had long argued that offering online delivery would hurt its margins and undermine its low-price promise. It halted click-and-collect for special buys and wine in July 2023 and stopped its click-and-collect grocery service in 2024 to keep store operations efficient and prices low.
