Amazon and Target launch competing October sales events on Oct. 6‑7

Amazon and Target announced that their competing October sale events will run from Oct. 6 to Oct. 7, according to company press releases issued Tuesday. Amazon’s Big Deal Days will be available to paid Prime members and will feature new product drops each day across categories such as fragrances, Shark appliances and select groceries, while Target’s Circle Deal Days will be open to free loyalty members, with Target Circle 360 subscribers gaining early access a day prior. Target reported Q2 net sales of $26.5 billion, up 5.3% year over year, and Amazon’s Q2 online store sales reached $70.4 billion, a 15% increase, with physical store sales up 4% to $5.8 billion.

Amazon’s event will also highlight a new FAO Schwarz storefront and holiday gift lists designed to help shoppers prepare for hosting, decorating and gifting.;Target’s Circle Deal Days will emphasize deals on its private‑label brands, including kids’ clothing line Cat & Jack and furniture line Threshold.;Both retailers are positioning the October sales as a way to capture early holiday spending before the traditional November‑December peak.

“Once fall arrives, there's so much to get ready for — the hosting, the decorating, the holiday gifting — and Prime Big Deal Days makes it easy to check it all off while saving,” Carmen Nestares, Amazon’s vice president of North America marketing and Prime tech said.

Amazon held its annual Prime Day sales event in June, marking a slightly earlier run from its usual July dates.;The leaves are just starting to fall in parts of the U.S., meaning it's that time of year again when major retailers — like Target and Walmart — often compete with e-commerce giant Amazon during sales events.
