Walmart upgrades Scintilla with marketplace data and AI recommendations next year

Walmart will enhance its Scintilla insights platform next year by adding marketplace data, customizable dashboards and a more powerful AI assistant for suppliers. The upgrade lets first‑party sellers who also operate on Walmart’s marketplace view their marketplace performance alongside other Scintilla data starting next year.

Users will be able to see sales trends, customer behavior shifts and supply‑chain signals in a single view, with the new dashboards linking data sets so they can spot whether inventory is misplaced or brand loyalty is waning. The expanded AI functionality will allow Scintilla’s Marty assistant to analyze all available data and issue recommendations, such as why customers are lapsing and what actions to take in advertising or supply chain. Walmart also said it will roll out Scintilla to Sam’s Club suppliers in the United States next year, following the February launch of Scintilla In‑Store, which gives field reps store‑level visibility from the Volt platform Walmart bought in 2022.

“What we’re doing now is taking AI and moving from summarizing findings or highlighting key points to, now, [making] recommendations,” Mark Hardy, head of Walmart Data Ventures said.

The platform has been growing steadily; just last month Walmart announced plans to bring Scintilla to Sam’s Club suppliers in the U.S. next year. Earlier in February the retailer launched Scintilla In‑Store, a revised version of the Volt acquisition, to give supplier representatives access to store‑level data.
