Amazon, Stella McCartney, and Canopy launch Fashion Coalition with 60+ signatories

Today Amazon, Stella McCartney, and Canopy announced the launch of the Climate Pledge Fashion Coalition, which already has over 60 signatories The coalition aims to help its members reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040

The coalition will align demand across signatories to create blended financing mechanisms that pair development‑finance de‑risking with private capital, helping innovators price sustainable materials closer to mainstream levels. Through its Fashion Coalition Lever Library, members access over 100 proven and emerging options, and fiber‑by‑fiber guidance, while the coalition also uses Next Gen Now, a Canopy‑led initiative, to link signatories with innovative materials ready for commercial adoption. By showing that production‑stage innovations can work at scale, the coalition provides policymakers with real‑world evidence for smarter environmental policy, countering the industry’s estimated 2 to 8% of global carbon emissions, 79 trillion liters of water use, and 92 million tons of annual textile waste. Innovators receive long‑term volume commitments that enable price parity with incumbent fibers, while the coalition’s scaled sustainable materials bring more sustainable fashion choices to customers at every price point

“Through The Climate Pledge, we're bringing together more than 60 fashion and retail brands, manufacturers, and innovators to help make that happen,” Kara Hurst, chief sustainability officer at Amazon said.
