BattlBox hits $447K monthly sales on Whatnot after 17 months of live selling

BattlBox CEO John Roman reported that live selling on Whatnot now generates $447,000 per month with no ad spend, 17 months after he repurchased the company in 2023. He noted that Whatnot shoppers spend three times as much as those on TikTok Shop. Each live show runs three hours, with every product featured for exactly 30 seconds.

The Whatnot channel generates revenue without any ad spend, according to Roman. He described the host‑hiring mistake that initially seemed like a sure thing as a key lesson learned.

“Not knowing what we were doing, just bobbling through it, we did a couple thousand dollars an hour and we were like, whoa, this might be something,” John Roman, CEO of BattlBox said.

Roman reacquired BattlBox in January 2023 after the company had secured a successful Netflix show run that it had pitched to Netflix. Prior to the Whatnot experiment, BattlBox had explored TikTok Shop as an obvious next channel given its over‑million‑strong TikTok following.
