Christine Russo reports from Retail Club and Shoptalk Fall 2026
Christine Russo reports from Retail Club and Shoptalk Fall 2026, noting Retail Club drew about 2,000 attendees this year. She also heard organisers expect more than 3,500 attendees at Shoptalk Fall in its third year and first Nashville edition. She surveyed over 50 attendees across both shows to gauge their impressions.
She observed that dense 1:1 meeting schedules pull participants off the main show floor, leaving the floor quieter and creating lulls in activity. Off‑premises vendor events are growing in size and number, further drawing people away from the hall. When sessions end, empty stages and dark voids with vacant chairs appear, resembling a party where the kitchen is full but the living room is empty. Russo suggests placing content on every stage throughout the day, even during meetups, to maintain intensity and keep attendees engaged.
Retail Club is in its second year, after a first year that brought roughly 500 attendees. Shoptalk Fall is entering its third year and is being held in Nashville for the first time. The organisers of Shoptalk anticipated more than 3,500 attendees for this edition.
What we know
Year one brought roughly 500 people.
This year the attendance number I kept hearing was about 2,000.
The organisers anticipated more than 3,500 attendees.
I asked over 50 people (combined for both shows) what they thought and how their experiences were.
Four times the crowd, with a bigger footprint, more content, and more to do.
