Sainsbury’s names Sam Littlejohn, ex‑Amazon, as supply chain planning director

Sainsbury’s has appointed Sam Littlejohn, formerly of Amazon, as its Director of Supply Chain Planning, noting he spent almost 11 years at the online retailer. It is rolling out RFID technology across about 400 TU clothing stores, aiming for completion by September. The 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards Ceremony is set for Wednesday, 4th November at The HAC in Central London.

A pilot earlier this year demonstrated that RFID improved stock visibility, accelerated replenishment and enabled more efficient inventory management. The RTIH Innovation Awards have now closed for entries, with winners to be announced at the November ceremony. He noted that the ceremony marks the awards’ fifth year as a physical event, having grown from an initial gathering of 30 people to today’s record‑breaking attendance.

“This year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records,” Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH said.

The RFID roll‑out follows a trial conducted earlier this year in selected stores. Last year’s RTIH hall of fame inductees were unveiled at a sold‑out event on 16 October at The HAC, featuring a drinks reception, three‑course meal and an awards ceremony hosted by comedian Tiff Stevenson.
