GLP-1 Users Report Jeans as First Casualty, Sparking Wardrobe Overhaul
A Trimi Health survey of 737 U.S. adults using GLP-1 medications found that 90 percent see denim as disrupted and 42 percent say their jeans are now completely unwearable. The average cost to rebuild a wardrobe with fitting clothes is $328, and more than half of respondents now shop retailers they never used before treatment. Seventy percent of GLP-1 users have left the plus‑size stores they previously patronized, with Lane Bryant down 72 percent and Torrid down 65 percent in share.
Free People doubled its share among surveyed shoppers from 5 percent to 10 percent, while 27 percent said they traded up to a contemporary, premium or athleisure brand they had not bought before. Sixty‑eight percent donate unwanted clothing, 54 percent store items ‘just in case,’ 28 percent resell them, and 46 percent have thrown away clothes that no longer fit.
