Shopify enables faster checkout and cross-device cart sync via Shop

Shopify has introduced a feature that lets Shop verify a shopper’s identity while they browse, speeding up checkout before a purchase is made. For Shop users, the update means checkout loads faster, carts stay synchronized across devices, sign-in is accelerated with one‑tap, and the Buy with Shop Pay button is pre‑filled with the shopper’s last‑used card. Browsing activity and abandoned carts now sync to the shopper’s Shop account, enabling Shop to resurface viewed items and remind shoppers to complete purchases they left behind.

The two‑way synchronization ensures that a cart started in the Shop app appears on the merchant’s storefront, and a cart begun on the storefront is simultaneously available in the Shop app.

Because the feature works on all browsers, merchants do not need to worry about compatibility issues when shoppers switch between desktop and mobile devices.

Shop’s ability to resurface viewed items and abandoned carts helps merchants recover lost sales by prompting shoppers to return to items they previously showed interest in.

The pre‑filled Shop Pay button reduces friction at checkout by automatically presenting the payment card the shopper last used, which can increase conversion rates.

Merchants can expect a smoother checkout experience and potentially higher completed purchases as the feature becomes available to all Shopify stores immediately.

Sign‑in for Shop users is sped up with one‑tap authentication, cutting the time required to log into customer accounts and begin shopping.
