Shopify lets merchants set 14‑day return overrides for specific products

Shopify now lets merchants set return window overrides for specific collections, products, or variants, allowing periods as short as 14 days instead of the default 90‑day window. Overrides replace the default return window, and when multiple overrides apply the shortest one wins, while final‑sale items remain non‑returnable.

To set an override, merchants go to Settings > Policies > Return and cancellation rules, select a market’s rules to modify, and then choose a collection, product, or variant to apply the new window. If an item matches an override, that override’s return window is used; otherwise the market‑specific or storewide default applies. For example, a merchant can apply a 14‑day window to a “Holiday 2026” collection while keeping the storewide default at 90 days.
