Ty Symonds joins Pottery for the Planet as GM effective October 12
Pottery for the Planet appointed former Country Road Home GM Ty Symonds as its general manager, effective October 12, bringing more than two decades of retail and design leadership. The brand, founded in 2015 by potter Renton Bishopric, now supplies over 500 wholesale stockists across Australia and New Zealand and operates showrooms in Noosa and Eumundi.
Symonds will relocate from Victoria to work at the company’s fully solar‑powered studio in Noosaville on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, which also partners with a production facility in Vietnam. Pottery for the Planet makes solar‑fired ceramic travel cups, tableware, and other homewares, selling them through its online store and wholesale network. Before this role, Symonds held senior positions at Kmart Australia, Target Australia, and the fashion label BlackMilk after leading Country Road Home’s creative direction and operations.
“Bringing Ty on is a sign of where we’re heading,” Renton Bishopric, founder of Pottery for the Planet said.
“Australian consumers are asking harder questions about where things are made and what they are made of, and the brands answering those questions properly are the ones growing,” Ty Symonds, GM of Pottery for the Planet said.
Founded in 2015, Pottery for the Planet started with solar‑fired ceramic travel cups as an alternative to single‑use plastic and has since expanded its ceramic range.
