Amazon launches tools to cut global seller costs by up to 60%
Amazon announced new tools that enable sellers to list a product once and sell in up to eight countries by year-end. Sellers active in more than one country earn 70% more revenue on average than those selling in just one.
The new compliance tools let sellers test a product once and receive certification valid in multiple countries, with early pilot participants reporting savings of up to 60%. Global Warehousing and Distribution will expand from the United States to eight countries by the end of the year, offering storage costs up to 45% lower than the existing U.S.-based Amazon Warehousing and Distribution service. A unified seller dashboard, introduced this fall, shows demand and economics across the United States, Europe and Japan, with additional countries to be added by year-end, and will eventually let sellers manage listings, inventory and orders in one place.
Amazon already reaches more rural U.S. shoppers than before, and it notes that only about three in ten sellers currently list products internationally. The company says the main hurdle is having to manage separate inventory, compliance, listings and logistics for each country.
