Lowe’s launches 20‑minute drone delivery in Matthews, NC with Wing and DoorDash

Lowe’s has launched a drone delivery pilot in Matthews, North Carolina, offering 20‑minute delivery of select home improvement items through Wing and DoorDash. The pilot covers more than 100 SKUs, ranging from hand tools to paint supplies.

Customers place orders via the DoorDash app, and Wing drones pick up the items from Lowe’s store and fly them to the customer’s location. The service is limited to a curated list of eligible products, including all‑purpose cleaner, caulk, hand tools, household batteries, painter’s tape, screwdrivers and soap. Lowe’s uses its physical stores as hubs for staging drone dispatch areas, integrating DoorDash’s marketplace demand into the drone workflow. The pilot adds to Lowe’s existing same‑day options such as BOPIS, curbside pickup and same‑day delivery.

“By piloting drone delivery, we’re addressing a real project pain point with an innovative solution that is integrated into the retail journey, giving our hometown customers next‑generation fulfillment right when they need it,” Seemantini Godbole, chief information and AI officer at Lowe’s said.

Lowe’s pointed to its AI assistants Mylow and Mylow Companion, which together have answered more than 25 million questions since launching in 2025. The retailer also noted its No. 9 position in the Top 1000 Database and No. 90 in Digital Commerce 360’s new AI Rankings.
